LeVar Burton is the founder of LeVar Burton Entertainment, a content creation company that aims to promote community, empathy, and diversity through its works. Founded in January 2019, the company upholds high standards of integrity and quality in its productions.
Mr. Burton has had a long and successful career in the entertainment industry, with notable roles in "Roots", "Star Trek: The Next Generation", and as the host of the educational television series "Reading Rainbow" for more than 23 years.
LeVar Burton Entertainment has been involved in various projects, including teaming up with Entertainment One to create a game show based on Hasbro’s famed “Trivial Pursuit”. Mr. Burton not only hosted the series but also served as an executive producer.
As a teenager, Mr. Burton entered St. Pius X Minor Seminary in Galt, California, intending to become a priest. However, at 17, he began questioning the Catholic faith and changed his vocation to acting.
Mr. Burton obtained a cinematography degree from Drexel University in 2019. He attended the University of Southern California but At 19, while still an undergraduate, he won a starring role in the 1977 television miniseries Roots.
