Kevin W. Williams

Kevin Williams was appointed president and managing director of GM Canada, Ltd. on March 1, 2010, and has overall responsibility for GM's operations in Canada.

Williams had served as GM vice president and general manager, Service and Parts Operations, since December 1, 2008. Williams had previously served as president and managing director of GM de Mexico since August 1, 2006, after having been assistant managing director and manufacturing manager, GM de Mexico from June 2005, and GM North America vice president of quality between 2003 and 2005.

Prior assignments included positions as global executive director, Supplier Quality (since 2001); global executive director, Supplier Quality, Development, and Supplier Diversity for Worldwide Purchasing (since 2000); and, executive director, Supplier Quality for GM Europe with responsibilities spanning 22 countries and 1,500 employees (since 1997).

Williams began his GM career in 1983 as a reliability analyst at Buick City in Flint, Michigan. In 1989, he became the general supervisor of production at the Lansing Craft Centre in Lansing, Michigan; and, in 1991, was appointed program readiness manager for GM's EV1 electric vehicle program.

In 1993, he became a reliability engineer with the former North America Truck Group. In 1995, he became the assistant production superintendent at the Janesville Assembly Plant in Janesville, Wisconsin; and, in 1996, was promoted to area manager of general assembly.

Williams was born on September 27, 1961, and raised in Lexington Park, Maryland. He received a bachelor's degree in business management from Tennessee State University in 1983 and a master's degree in business administration from Central Michigan University in 1989. Williams completed the GM Senior Executive Development Program in 2002.

He serves as chairman of the Society of Automotive Engineers' A World in Motion Advisory Committee, is a member of the Genesys Health System board of directors and is a member of the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce. He also continues to support his alma mater, Tennessee State University, by serving on the TSU Foundation board and is the key GM executive liaison with the university for the GM University Relations Team.
