Ime Archibong is Vice President, Product Management and Head of Product at Messenger at Meta Platforms, Inc.

Previously he the Head of New Product Experimentation (since Aug. 2019 to Mar. 2023) and VP Product Partnerships (since Nov. 2010), for Facebook. His team is focused on accelerating Facebook's product strategy and unlocking new business opportunities through partnerships and product integrations. Mr. Archibong is the highest-ranking black person within Facebook.

Mr. Archibong was born in Kansas, but grew up in North Carolina with his Nigerian born parents who are both professors.

“For my parents, the pragmatic outcome that they see from education is, “Oh, you need to go be a doctor or go be a lawyer.” We couldn’t see what the pragmatic outcome was of going and getting a computer science degree. Or going and getting an engineering degree. And it’s not that the stories weren’t being told, but the stories weren’t being told with people that looked like me and resonated with me,” Mr. Archibong told the Fast Company.

Prior to joining Facebook, Mr. Archibong was an Advanced Technology Business Development Professional at IBM where he focused on the licensing of IBM’s global portfolio of storage research technology.

He started his career at IBM as a software engineer in the Systems and Technology Group, before doing a stint on the corporate strategy team, and eventually settling in business development.

Mr. Archibong holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Yale University and a MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. 

Mr. Archibong played shooting guard on Yale’s basketball team from 1999 to 2003.
