Curtis H. Tearte

Curtis Tearte is responsible for leading IBM System and Technology Group's Innovation Solutions business, including Engineering & Technology Services (E&TS), Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) systems sales, Intellectual Property, Telecommunications Industry Marketing, and Deep Computing. He is also responsible for Retail Store Solutions and the Printing Systems Division.

In his previous role as General Manager, Public Sector Sales & Distribution which he assumed in January 2001, he was responsible for leading IBM’s global sales and marketing strategy for customers in the government, health care and life sciences/pharmaceutical, and education industries. Mr. Tearte also gained expertise and knowledge through leadership positions he held in several other business units, including vice president of the Communications Sector for IBM Americas, general manager of the Customer Financing Unit in IBM Global Financing, vice president of Distribution Industry for IBM Americas, and general manager for IBM Global Utilities and Energy Services. Mr. Tearte joined IBM in 1979 and assumed his current role in January of 2005. He is a member of IBM’s Worldwide Management Council and Senior Leadership Team.

He has a law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law, and he has studied both political science and international affairs at Howard University Graduate School and the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School.
