Andre Johnson

Andre Johnson is VP of Business Development, Mytical Games, a game technology studio, since Dec., 2018.

He was most recently Head of Business Development at The Virtual Reality Company from May 2016 to Dec., 2018. 

He also served as a producer at Hydra-Entertainment, a story prototyping, IP management, development and production company from January 2015 to May 2016.

Prior to joining Hydra-Entertainment he was Executive Vice President at Magic Johnson Enterprises (MJE), where he was responsible for generating revenue through building new initiatives and enhancing existing partnerships.

Previously Andre worked with MJE partner Canyon Capital Realty Advisors LLC for two years as an Asset Management Analyst where he focused on Canyon’s hospitality portfolio nationwide. With Canyon, Andre worked to maximize total return for each assigned asset through the analysis of property efficiencies and identifying opportunities for improved performance. He was instrumental in managing the daily operations of the Canyon-Johnson Urban Fund. He assisted in the selection and implementation of new real estate projects and helped to grow the existing portfolio of investments across the nation.

For over five years, prior to joining Canyon, Andre served as Vice President of Business Development for MJE where he was responsible for identifying future business opportunities by assessing and understanding the marketplace and prioritizing market segments for development. Additionally, Andre was responsible for analyzing their feasibility and facilitating the successful execution of business development initiatives—including SodexoMAGIC, MAGIC32, and various film related projects (e.g. Obsessed, Brown Sugar, etc.). 

Prior to joining Magic Johnson Enterprises, Andre served as an Artist and Repertoire (A&R) Representative for Elektra Records. He was responsible for coordinating video shoots, overseeing studio sessions, budgeting, marketing and promotions for artists and albums. He worked with some of the music industry's hottest artists including Jay Z, Gwen Stefani and Missy Elliott.

Mr. Johnson has been featured in over 30 magazines and television programs including Black Enterprise, Azteca America, ESPN2 and Access Hollywood. He appeared on the cover of LA Focus as one of the young, rising African American businessmen in Los Angeles. Andre recently became the Vice Chair of the honorary committee for the Los Angeles Minority Business Opportunity Center (LA MBOC) under the direction of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. The committee empowers small minority-owned businesses to earn contracts on public and private sector projects. In recognition of his commitment to minority business development and opportunities for youth, Mr. Johnson was awarded the Penny Lane Blue Skies Award for Minority Community Development Advocacy and The City Refuge Youth Empowerment Award.

Mr. Andre Johnson is the eldest son of businessman and retired NBA player Earvin "Magic" Johnson.

Mr. Johnson holds an Associate's Degree from Santa Monica College.
