Who Is Marc Ecko? He is the founder and owner of Marc Ecko Enterprises. The manufacture of Ecko Unltd, Zoo York, G-Unit clothing line, Fetish by Eve, Avirex and publisher of men’s shopping magazine Complex. Marc Ecko Enterprises had retail sales of around $550 million last year, plus licensing fees for shoes and baby clothing and so etc.

The 32 year old was born and raised in New Jersey where he still lives. Ecko is sometimes described as a former graffiti artist, but grown-up mall rat is closer to the truth, according to the NYTimes.

He was born Marc Milecofsky and grew up in Lakewood N.J. His parents were real-estate agents. Ecko says he was in grade school when he started to see clothing as a way to fit in with social groups. He learned about graffiti culture through photography books. He went to the Rutgers School of Pharmacy before starting his T-Shirt business with partners Seth Gerszberg and Marci Tapper. They lost $6 million in their first six years and it was a struggle to make payroll for even a small staff.

Ecko is now the youngest member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America's board of directors. His company has turned around and is now on solid footing. He has expanded into video games with Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure, a video game based on urban culture and graffiti art debuting in the second half of 2005.

In 2003 the *ecko unltd. brand had over $400 million in retail sales, while total domestic and retail sales for all Marc Ecko Enterprises brands was approximately $1 billion. Marc Ecko Enterprises has 500 employees and is products are sold in more than 5000 department and specialty stores domestically and in over 45 countries internationally.
