Rosalind Brewer, the CEO of Walgreens Boots Alliance, has resigned from her position and the board of directors, the company announced on Friday. Ms. Brewer joined Walgreens in March 2021 from Starbucks, where she was the COO and group president. During her tenure, she led the company's efforts to provide Covid-19 vaccines and to transform its business model to focus more on health care services. However, she also faced challenges such as declining share price and lawsuits related to the opioid crisis. According to the company, Ms. Brewer will receive a severance package of $9 million and will continue to serve as a special adviser until February 2024. During this period, she will earn a monthly fee of $375,000. Ms. Brewer was one of only five currently active Black CEOs of a Fortune 500 listed company.
