Rocawear charged with trademark infringement

The New York Post reports that Rocawear the clothing line owned by Jay Z and Damon Dash had intended to call its 2005 spring line of clothes and jewellery which ranged in price from $35 to $250 Rocawear MUSE. However Maggy London International who has a trademark and sold a line of women's apparel and accessories under the label Maggy London's MUSE objected and has filed charges in Manhattan federal court accusing Rocawear with trademark infringement. Bridget Russo, spokeswoman for Rocaware suggests that the issue is moot since the name has not been used and has never appeared on any Rocaware branded items. She said the name MUSE was under consideration before complaints surfaced.
