New York Supreme Court Declines to Hear 'Diddy' Appeal

Created by BlackEntrepreneurProfiles.com

The New York Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to hear an appeal brought by Sean "Diddy" Combs that hoped to overturn a lower court ruling ordering him to pay more than $19,000 a month in child support.

Combs was ordered last year by the New York Supreme Court's Appellate Division to pay ex-girlfriend Misa Hylton-Brim $19,000 a month  in child support for his 12-year-old son Justin. Brim wanted to increase the original $2,795 Combs was originally ordered to pay in 1996; she also wanted to collect nearly $400,000 in back support.

The Appellate Division order was issued after Combs appealed a Westchester Family Court ruling from October 2004 that he should pay $35,000 a month in child support.

The Appellate Division judge initially set monthly support payments at $21,782, but later reduced the amount to the current $19,000 a month.

"We're pleased the original order was reduced but we thought there were issues applicable for the Court of Appeals to entertain," said Combs' attorney, Stephen Gassman.
