Apple Computer's MacBook Pro
On Tuesday Apple Computer introduced is first Intel powered labtop computer, the MacBook Pro, which will be available in Febuary in two models.
The less expensive model at US$1,999 will running at 1.67GHz and featuring a 15-inch screen. It will also come with an 80GB hard drive and a new infrared sensor to use with the Apple Remote control device.
A second version will feature an 1.83GHz processor and a 100GB hard drive and cost $2,499.
These are some really nices machines, there’s an iSight camera built into the thin bezel just above the display which gives you the ability to video conference from anywhere in the world.
They also come with the Front Row application which allows you to control you computer using a remote.
"The MacBook Pro is the fastest Mac notebook ever, obviously," Steve Jobs Apple's CEO said.
They get there speed by using an Intel Core Duo processor, which is actually two processors (up to 1.83GHz) engineered onto a single chip. It provides 2MB of Smart Cache, L2 cache that can be shared between both cores as needed. It delivers higher performance in 2D and 3D graphics, video editing, and music encoding.
